Trip in between Derailments - 1

4th June 2014

5:00 am - Almost ready to leave home for Bangalore city station. Decided to sit in front of the computer for quick round up of things. A shock, Yesvantpur - Howrah Express has derailed at Kuppam ( details ). Reached Bangalore city around 6, ED ALCO twins 16465 & 16672 were ready with the train.

6:15 am - My train departed dot on time and we moved towards the raising sun. The first surprise catch due to the derailment was waiting at the home signal of Bangalore city with a WAP7 from RPM

Yes, it is the first train to arrive in the morning from Chennai, Chennai Mysore Kaveri Express. Nearly 10 minutes after departure, we reach Bangalore cant and ED WDM3D is waiting there with Tuticorin - Mysore Express. On departing, the empty rake of Golden chariot was seen.

We then skip Bangalore east and head towards Baiyapanahalli, the sleep spoiler Chennai - Bangalore mail hurries towards Bangalore city on the opposite line. A through run is given through BYPL and we climb the ramp and join the Salem line. It was a steady run upto Karmelaram where we stopped for a scheduled halt. After a quick 2 minute halt, we depart again, we blast past Dharmapuri - Bangalore passenger waiting at Hellalige. Ankel road is skipped at MPS as well and we enter into Tamil Nadu. Hosur is reached with a delay of 10 minutes and Salem Yesvantpur passenger is seen waiting for us. Departed from platform 2 after a 3 minute halt. The Alco twins started to show its true colors now as it smoked and chugged quickly out of Hosur. The mountains started appearing as we headed towards Dharmapuri indicating the changing landscape.

Well this is for people who are yet to guess the train in which i am traveling, it is Bangalore Ernakulam intercity Express.

3 New trains for Bengaluru.....

Novemeber 1st, a special day for the people of Karnataka and railways decided to gift the state 6 new trains. I decided to cover the inuagural runs from Yesvantpur. 3 new trains were to be inugurated from Yesvantpur.

1. Yesvantpur - Nelamangala Passenger
2. Yesvantpur - Hosur Passenger ( It was already running as a special )
3. Bengaluru - Tumakuru Passneger ( It was already running as a special express )

Started from home around 8:00 AM to Bengaluru city to have a glimpse of the decorated Loco for Tumakuru Passenger. On reaching the station, there were no signs of the loco and it was also confirmed by fellow rail fan Nihkil who was waiting for me. We took Bengaluru Tumakuru Passenger that departs at 09:20 AM to Yesvantpur to have a look at the siutation there. On reaching we got to meet the unique WAP1 named Jawahar. Then from the yard side we saw a decorated train coming towards platform 6. It was the loco and the 2 DEMU's for the inaugural runs. After inspecting the decorated DEMU, we went towards the Loco to be surprised again. The rake of Bengaluru - Tumakuru was already coupled to the loco and we were also informed that all the trains will start from Platform 6. We then went around clicking pictures and by 12, Nelamanga DEMU was given clearance and we departed Yesvantpur. After getting down at Soldevanahalli and waving good bye to DEMU, we waited for Bengaluru - Tumakuru inugural passenger. The train finally came after 20 minutes at Full MPS and it went out of sight in no time. It was time for home. Pictures and Video from the event an be seen below.
