A new initiative by Indian Railways to bring down their fuel expense, adding 5% mixture to the normal fuel. It is a part of South Western Railway’s efforts to become more environmentally friendly. Banaglore becomes the 3rd Station after Hubli and Hospet to follow this initiative. The mix will be from extracts of vegetable oil and Jatropha seeds. 12007 Chennai - Mysore Shatabdi becomes the first train to get the bio fueled loco. At present platform 10 has the facility to provide the biofuel mixture, soon all the diesel loco departing from Bangalore city will be refueled with this mixture.
