A railfanning trip to capture the inaugural run of Mysore Varanasi Special resulted in meeting the first WDG4 of Indian railways 12001. This loco is homed at Hubli loco shed and it still retains the original livery given by EMD. We first saw it at Chikbanavar along with its shed mate 12089. The loco was sent light towards Yesvantpur. It was then spotted at Kyatsandra with BCNA. We spotted it again light at Hirehalli and dobbspet. 3 more special things on this trip were spotting of brand new WDG4 70010 , Car unloading from a train at Nidavanda and Gonda WDM3A at Yesvantpur.
